Interview: A day at work with Mauro

Tell us, how does a typical day start for you?
[Mauro] My day begins with a full check of the CNC lathe: I make sure all parameters are set correctly, the tools are in good condition, and there are no irregularities. Then I load the machining program and prepare the raw material. Today, for example, I’m working on a component made of C45 steel.

How important is precision in your job?
It’s everything. In our field, there’s no room for error—just a small mistake can compromise an entire production batch. That’s why, in addition to CNC programming, I always perform dimensional checks using micrometers and digital calipers. Every part has to be perfect.

What key skills are essential for working on a CNC lathe?
You need a solid technical foundation, good knowledge of mechanical drawings, and some hands-on experience. But equally important are patience, focus, and a desire to improve. There’s always something new to learn every day, even just by observing how a material behaves during machining.

In your opinion, what makes Boggiani Renato Srl stand out?
It’s the commitment to quality—at every stage. From selecting raw materials to delivering the finished component, there’s attention to detail and true professionalism. Here, we don’t just work “to get the job done”; we work to guarantee results that last, perform, and make a difference. That spirit also shapes the work environment: we’re a team, we support each other, and everyone feels their contribution matters.

And finally, what gives you the greatest satisfaction in your work?
Seeing a finished part, knowing that I made it, and that it will go on to play its role in a complex machine—whether in Italy or abroad. That’s something to be proud of. Every time, it feels like signing a piece of work with your own hands.
